Shining a Light on Rural People & Places

Celebrating the people and places that make our rural communities special

At Rural Action, we believe that the heart of every rural community lies in its people, its heritage and the unique stories that bring it to life.

Our Shining a Light on Rural People & Places campaign is a video series dedicated to showcasing the beauty, character and community spirit of rural villages across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland.

Through a series of short videos, we take you on a journey into the heart of rural communities, highlighting local landmarks, businesses, hidden gems, rich heritage and, most importantly, the people who make these places so special.

From vibrant community spaces and thriving local businesses to the hidden gems that make each village unique, the campaign celebrates the strong sense of belonging, pride and connection that exists within our rural communities.

Our aim is simple: to shine a light on rural places, celebrate their people and share the stories that deserve to be seen and heard.
